After Simitli the road leaves the Struma valley and climbs over the Predela pass, then drops down into the Razlog valley. This mountain section is slower than the motorway, and after fresh snow it takes longer. Razlog is the first town you reach; Bansko is just a few kilometres further on along the same road.
