How much is a transfer from Sofia Airport to Bansko?
| Vehicle | Passengers | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan / Estate | up to 4 | 95 EUR |
| Minivan, long base | up to 6 | 133 EUR |
| Minibus, long base | up to 8 | 142 EUR |
| Group larger than 8 | 9 or more | on request |
Prices are for the whole vehicle and the same in both directions. Four of you with ski or snowboard gear? Book the minivan (133 EUR): the sedan takes up to 4 passengers, but four people with ski gear need the bigger car. More than eight people? Send us the numbers and we will quote on request.
How long is the drive from Sofia Airport to Bansko?
Usually 2 h 15 min for the roughly 160 km. The driver takes the ring road around Sofia and then the Struma motorway south, before turning east over the Predela pass towards Razlog and Bansko, so most of the trip is motorway and the mountain section comes near the end.
On a busy changeover Saturday in peak season, or after fresh snow, allow a little longer. If you are staying in Razlog, the town just before Bansko on the same road, see our Sofia Airport to Razlog transfer.
Where does the driver meet me?
In the arrivals hall at Sofia Airport. Send us your flight number when you book: our dispatchers follow arriving flights, so if your plane from the UK is late the driver simply comes for the real landing time. When the delay is caused by your flight, waiting at the airport is free and has no time limit. You also get the driver’s details on WhatsApp or Viber.
For the trip home, the driver collects you from your hotel in Bansko. At an address the driver waits 15 minutes from the agreed time, so please be ready in the lobby with your skis packed.
Can I bring skis and snowboards?
Yes. When you book, tell us how many ski or snowboard bags, boot bags and suitcases you are bringing, and we will confirm a vehicle that takes everything in one trip.
- Sedan / Estate: fine for two people with skis.
- Minivan, long base: the one to book for four people with ski gear, or up to six adults.
- Minibus, long base: up to eight skiers with their bags, still one price for the whole vehicle.

Hiring skis in Bansko rather than flying with them? Say so when you book: without ski bags, four adults with ordinary suitcases can usually travel in the sedan, and the price drops from 133 EUR to 95 EUR. A snowboard bag takes about the same room as a ski bag, and boot bags count as extra pieces, so list each one.
How do I pay?
On the day of travel, in cash or by card. There is no prepayment, and the price we confirm when you book is the price you pay. Bank transfer is also possible – just tell us what suits you when you book.
How do I book?
Send us your hotel in Bansko, both flight numbers, the number of passengers and children, and your ski bags. Call +359 897 227 771, message us on WhatsApp or use the booking form. We reply almost immediately with the vehicle, the price for the whole vehicle and the pickup times.
Bansko sits below the Pirin mountains: a proper old town with the ski area above it. Not decided yet? Borovets is closer to the airport – compare both in our Borovets or Bansko guide.
Your arrival day in Bansko, step by step
Most ski flights from the UK reach Sofia in the afternoon or evening, and after a day of packing, queues and boarding, a family mainly wants a calm, simple run to the hotel. This is how the day goes when you travel with us.
Collect the skis and cases
Ski and snowboard bags often take a little longer to appear than ordinary suitcases. There is no need to hurry: we track your flight, so the driver already knows when you actually landed.
Look for your name in arrivals
Your driver waits in the arrivals hall of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, whichever your flight uses, holding a sign with your name. All our drivers speak English.
Head south to Pirin
The seats you asked for are already fitted, so the children can sleep on the Struma motorway. Bansko is about 160 km and 2 h 15 min away, a little longer on a snowy changeover Saturday.
Sharing a chalet with another family? One long-base minibus for up to eight people costs 142 EUR, against 190 EUR for two sedans, and everybody arrives at the same time. As the price is per vehicle, the cost per head falls as the group grows.
Snow on the road: when to leave Bansko for your flight home
The Predela pass between Razlog and the Struma motorway is the part of the route that snow affects most. On a clear day the drive back to Sofia Airport is the usual 2 h 15 min; after a night of heavy snowfall we would rather start earlier than ask you to run for the check-in desk.
- Clear roads: for a 14:00 flight to the UK, a pickup at around 09:30 gets you to the airport with roughly two hours to spare.
- Heavy snow overnight: move the same pickup to about 08:30, an extra hour for the pass and the slower traffic out of town.
- Snow forecast for the evening you land: nothing to do on your side. The driver still meets your flight; the last section simply takes longer, so tell the hotel you may check in a little later.
We suggest the exact time when you send us your departure flight. If the forecast changes during the week, message us on WhatsApp and we will look at the pickup again.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a taxi from Sofia Airport to Bansko?
95 EUR in a sedan or estate for up to 4 passengers, 133 EUR in a long-base minivan for up to 6 and 142 EUR in a long-base minibus for up to 8. The price is for the whole vehicle, not per person.
How long does the transfer from Sofia Airport to Bansko take in winter?
About 2 hours 15 minutes for roughly 160 km on clear roads. In winter it can take longer: the Predela pass between the Struma motorway and Razlog is the part of the route that snow affects most, and on busy Saturdays in peak season traffic into Bansko is slower too. Send us your flight and hotel and we plan the pickup with the weather in mind.
Is a late-night arrival or a delayed flight a problem?
Not at all. We work 24/7, all year round, and follow your flight, so the driver comes for the real landing time and waits in the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name. When the delay is caused by your flight, waiting at Sofia Airport is free and has no time limit.
How much luggage and how many ski bags can we bring?
It depends on the vehicle. The sedan takes up to 4 passengers and is fine for two people with skis; the long-base minivan takes up to 6 and is the one to book for four people with skis (133 EUR to Bansko); the long-base minibus takes up to 8 with their bags. Tell us the number of ski or snowboard bags, boot bags and suitcases so we can confirm everything fits in one trip.
Do we pay in advance, and can we pay in pounds?
No prepayment: you pay on the day of travel. Cash in pounds is accepted, as well as euro, and you can also pay by card.
Do you have child seats?
Yes, all free of charge: baby seats, child seats and booster seats. Tell us how many children are travelling and which seats they need, and they will be fitted before you land.
Can we book the return from Bansko, and when do we leave for a morning flight?
Yes. Every route works in both directions at the same price, and at the hotel the driver waits 15 minutes from the agreed time. Allow about 2 h 15 min for the drive and around two hours at the airport, so a 10:00 flight usually means leaving Bansko at about 05:30; after heavy snow, leave earlier still. Send us your departure flight and we confirm the pickup time when you book.
Where will the driver meet us at Sofia Airport?
In the arrivals hall of your terminal, Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, with a sign showing your name. Your flight number tells us which terminal you use, and you also receive the driver’s details on WhatsApp or Viber. All our drivers speak English.
Is the landing time on our booking UK time or Bulgarian time?
Bulgarian time. Airline bookings show the local time at each airport, and Sofia is two hours ahead of London. Send us the flight number and we work from the real landing time.
