Sofia Airport to Borovets or Bansko by taxi
Two ski resorts, two very different drives. Here is what each transfer from Sofia Airport costs, how long it takes and how to plan it around your flight, so your ski week starts on the slopes and not in a queue.
A real person answers, 24/7. Orders in English by phone, or in the chat in your language.
The two ski transfers at a glance
Every price is for the whole vehicle, not per skier, and the same route works in both directions. No prepayment is needed: you pay on the day.
Borovets or Bansko: what changes for your transfer
If you have not picked your resort yet, the transfer is worth a thought. Borovets sits in the Rila mountains, roughly half the distance from the airport compared with Bansko. After an evening flight from London, that shorter drive means you can be in your hotel well before midnight. Bansko, below the Pirin mountains, is a longer trip south, but it is a proper old town with a ski area above it, and many UK groups are happy to trade the extra time on the road for that.
| Sofia Airport to | Borovets | Bansko |
|---|---|---|
| Distance | 75 km | 170 km |
| Usual drive | 1 h 30 min | 2 h 15 min |
| Sedan / Estate, up to 4 | 66 EUR | 95 EUR |
| Minivan long base, up to 6 | 85 EUR | 133 EUR |
| Minibus long base, up to 8 | 95 EUR | 142 EUR |
The prices come straight from our price list. Going somewhere else for the snow, such as Pamporovo, or a chalet outside the resort? Send us the address and we will reply with a price almost immediately: those trips are on request.
The road to Borovets
From the airport the driver takes the ring road around Sofia and heads south-east to Samokov, then climbs through pine forest to the resort. It is a short mountain road, but it is the part where snow can slow things down, so on a heavy snow day allow a little extra time.
The road to Bansko
For Bansko the car goes south on the Struma motorway, then turns east over the Predela pass towards Razlog and Bansko. Most of the trip is motorway, and the mountain section comes near the end. On a busy changeover Saturday in peak season, the drive can take a little longer than the usual 2 h 15 min.
Planning the transfer around your flight
Arrival day
Send us your flight number when you book. Our dispatchers follow arriving flights, so if your plane is late the driver simply comes for the actual landing time. When the delay is caused by your flight, waiting at the airport is free and without a time limit. The driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, and you also get the driver’s details on WhatsApp or Viber.
Going home
For the return trip, work backwards from your departure time: the drive itself, a margin for snow on the mountain road, and the time your airline needs for bag drop. Our coordinator will suggest an exact pickup time when you book. On the day, please be ready in the hotel lobby with your skis: at an address the driver waits 15 minutes from the agreed time.
Booking both directions in one request is the easiest option. You can also add the return later from the resort; just call or message us.
Ski bags, boots and the right vehicle
Ski bags are long and boot bags are bulky, so the number of passengers is only half of the question. When you book, tell us how many ski or snowboard bags and suitcases you are bringing, and we will confirm a vehicle that takes everything in one trip.
- Sedan / Estate: works for couples and small groups travelling light on equipment.
- Minivan long base: the usual choice for a family of four with skis, or up to six adults.
- Minibus long base: up to eight skiers with their bags, still one price for the whole vehicle.
Bigger ski club or school group? Our fleet includes around 200 sedans, 50 minivans and 100 buses, plus 20 S and E class cars if you prefer a premium ride. For groups larger than eight, send us the numbers and we will quote on request.
Families with children
Baby carriers, child seats and booster seats are all free of charge. Just tell us how many children are travelling and what they need, and the seats will already be fitted when the driver meets you.
