How much is a transfer from Sofia Airport to Borovets?
| Vehicle | Passengers | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan / Estate | up to 4 | 66 EUR |
| Minivan, long base | up to 6 | 85 EUR |
| Minibus, long base | up to 8 | 95 EUR |
| Group larger than 8 | 9 or more | on request |
Prices are for the whole vehicle and the same in both directions, so a couple travelling light in a sedan pays 66 EUR in total. Four of you with ski or snowboard gear? Book the minivan (85 EUR): the sedan takes up to 4 passengers, but four people with ski gear need the bigger car. More than eight people? Send us the numbers and we will quote on request.
How long is the drive from Sofia Airport to Borovets?
Usually 1 h 30 min for about 75 km. From the airport the driver takes the ring road around Sofia, heads south-east to Samokov and then climbs through pine forest into the Rila mountains to the resort at about 1,350 m.
That last stretch is a short mountain road, and it is where snow can slow things down, so on a heavy snow day allow a little extra time. After an evening flight from London or Manchester, the short drive means you can be at your hotel well before midnight.
Where does the driver meet me?
In the arrivals hall at Sofia Airport. Send us your flight number when you book: our dispatchers follow arriving flights, so if your plane is late the driver simply comes for the real landing time. When the delay is caused by your flight, waiting at the airport is free and has no time limit. You also get the driver’s details on WhatsApp or Viber.
For the trip home, the driver collects you from your hotel in Borovets. At an address the driver waits 15 minutes from the agreed time, so please be ready in the lobby with your skis packed.
Can I bring skis and snowboards?
Yes. When you book, tell us how many ski or snowboard bags, boot bags and suitcases you are bringing, and we will confirm a vehicle that takes everything in one trip.
- Sedan / Estate: fine for two people with skis.
- Minivan, long base: the one to book for four people with ski gear, or up to six adults.
- Minibus, long base: up to eight skiers with their bags, still one price for the whole vehicle.

Planning to rent skis or boards in Borovets? Let us know: two or three adults without ski bags travel comfortably in the 66 EUR sedan. Snowboard bags need the same room as ski bags, and helmets and boot bags add up quickly for a family of four, which is why we ask for the full list.
How do I pay?
On the day of travel, in cash or by card. There is no prepayment, and the price we confirm when you book is the price you pay. Bank transfer is also possible – just tell us what suits you when you book.
Why book direct rather than through a transfer website?
Many transfer websites do not drive anyone themselves: they resell rides from local companies and add their margin. On those sites the same route is usually listed from about 75 EUR and up. When you book with us, you deal directly with the company that organises your transfer, and you can call us on +359 897 227 771 before and during your trip.
How do I book?
Send us your hotel in Borovets, both flight numbers, the number of passengers and children, and your ski bags. Call, message us on WhatsApp or use the booking form. We reply almost immediately with the vehicle, the price for the whole vehicle and the pickup times.
Borovets is Bulgaria’s oldest mountain resort, set in pine forest on the northern slopes of Rila below Musala, the highest peak in the Balkans. It is popular with UK skiers for its short transfer, its mix of easy and intermediate runs and its lively après-ski.
Flying in with the family: from the gate to Borovets
Borovets has the shortest transfer of the big Bulgarian resorts, which is a real help with tired children after an evening flight from London or Manchester. Here is what happens once the plane is on the ground.
Through passport control and baggage
UK passports use the non-EU queue, and ski bags can come through a little after the suitcases. Take your time: the driver works from your real landing time, not the timetable.
Meet your driver by name
Whether you land at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, the driver is in the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name and speaks English. The details also reach you on WhatsApp or Viber.
Up through Samokov into Rila
Around 75 km and usually 1 h 30 min. The final climb through the pine forest is where snow can slow the car, so on a white-out evening allow a little extra time.
Two families or a group of friends? A long-base minibus for up to eight is 95 EUR for the whole vehicle, while two sedans would be 132 EUR. You travel together, the skis go in one load, and nobody waits at the hotel for the second car.
Snow days: timing your run back to Sofia Airport
Borovets is close to the airport, but the road down through the forest to Samokov is a mountain road, and on a snowy morning everyone on it drives slowly. The 1 h 30 min of a normal day can stretch, so the pickup time depends on the weather as much as on your flight.
- Clear roads: for a 14:00 flight to the UK, a hotel pickup at around 10:15 is usually enough.
- Fresh snow overnight: bring it forward to about 09:15, which leaves an hour of margin for the descent and for snow-clearing on the road.
- Landing in a snowstorm: the driver still meets your flight. The motorway part to Samokov is rarely the problem; allow extra time for the final climb to the resort.
Send us your departure flight and we suggest the exact pickup time. If heavy snow is forecast for your last night, a quick WhatsApp to us is enough to review it.

How much luggage and how many ski bags can we bring?
It depends on the vehicle. What time is the pickup from Borovets for a flight back to the UK?
As a guide, about three and a half to four hours before departure on a clear day: 1 h 30 min for the drive plus around two hours at the airport. After heavy snow we add roughly an hour.
Is it worth booking before we leave the UK?
Yes. Booking from home means the vehicle, the child seats and the price are confirmed before you fly, and there is nothing to arrange in the arrivals hall. Send the details by WhatsApp, phone or the booking form.
Bulgaria is ahead of the UK. Which time do we give you?
Just give us the flight number. Sofia is two hours ahead of UK time, and the arrival time on your airline booking is already local Sofia time, which is the one the driver works from.
