It is one of the longest drives we do from Sofia Airport, right across Bulgaria from west to east, and the exact address and vehicle make a difference to the price. Once confirmed, the price does not change.

Why go to Varna by private transfer

Varna is Bulgaria’s third city and the main town on the northern Black Sea coast, with the Sea Garden, the beaches and the resorts just to the north. It has its own airport, but many UK travellers land in Sofia instead: there are more flights through the year, the times suit them better, or they want a few days in the capital or the mountains before the sea.

The train and the long-distance bus are possible, but they start in the centre of Sofia, so you need to get into the city first and then spend most of the day on a timetable. A private transfer leaves when you land, takes your whole group and all your luggage, stops when you need a break, and drops you at the door of your hotel or flat in Varna.

The route from Sofia Airport to Varna

There are two main ways across the country. The northern route runs east along the foot of the Balkan mountains, past Veliko Tarnovo and Shumen. The southern route takes the Trakia motorway towards Burgas and then follows the coast north. Planning around your flight

Arrival day

Send us your flight number when you book. Our dispatchers track arriving flights, so if your plane is late the driver comes at the actual landing time. When the delay is caused by your flight, waiting at the airport is free and has no time limit. The driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a sign showing your name, and you get the driver’s details on WhatsApp or Viber. With a late landing you will reach Varna late at night, so let your hotel know.

Going home

Because the drive is long, the return pickup from Varna is early. Work backwards from your flight: the drive, a margin for traffic and weather, and the time your airline needs for check-in. Our coordinator suggests an exact pickup time when you book. On the day, please be ready at the agreed time: at an address the driver waits 15 minutes from the agreed time.
