Burgas Airport is at Sarafovo, on the northern edge of Burgas, which is handy for the northern resorts: the car simply follows the coast road north past Pomorie to Sunny Beach. Nessebar sits at the southern end of Sunny Beach, and its old town is on a small peninsula with narrow pedestrian lanes, so for a guesthouse inside the old town the driver takes you as close as the road allows. Sozopol lies south of Burgas, so the route crosses the city first. On July and August evenings the roads into the resorts are busy; the times above are for a normal day.
Flying in from the UK: what should I know before I land?
Bulgaria is two hours ahead of UK time all year, so a mid-afternoon departure from a UK airport often lands in Burgas in the evening, local time. Give us the arrival time as it appears on your booking and we take care of the rest; our call centre works around the clock, so a late landing is no problem.
With a UK passport you queue at the non-EU passport desks, and the EU Entry/Exit System now takes fingerprints and a photo of first-time visitors, which can add time on a busy summer evening.
